Another perspective for WolfTeam Classic. Is it THAT bad?

Initially I had painted WolfTeam Classic as a negative, not being true to what the game title would imply. Now, I'd like to revisit this with new information and discuss some topics about it.

Who wouldn't love some good 'ol firefight as a half human/werewolf in WolfTeam Classic? In the opening years of WolfTeam I found this dynamic of human/wolf quite cool and it made me stick to the game for a good period of time. As a human you'd mow down the enemies while with wolf you'd maneuver faster around the map or save yourself with clutch kills as a wolf. It struck a perfect balance. *Picture from AeriaGames' Media*

To start off with a comment I made: WolfTeam Classic is not true to its name.

While initially I think this is true: To some extent it may very well be. However, with some new information I've heard/read, WolfTeam Classic is, by word to word, "classic + modern". What does it mean then? The classic part is close to 2010 WolfTeam, not much has been added except for tattoos, scratches, ex-items, 1st gen characters, UI, etc. There may be some other content but these come to my mind now. The modern part is just what the game current has. With the mixture of these two you get the game that is now called WolfTeam Classic.

So what does it mean? Basically WolfTeam Classic is an attempt to replicate the 2010 period of WolfTeam with the mixture of modern content that the game currently has. Do I think this is a good step to take? I would be inclined to say...Yes, to an extent. Would I have done this type of mixture? Most likely.

What does WolfTeam Classic hold in it, then? Well, from what I've gathered the content is vastly the same as it is in Softnyx's and Aeria's versions. Yet the weapons have been tuned to be of 'similar' power level, meaning rebalanced. I have not personally played the game as it is currently region restricted from North America, Europe and Turkey from what I've gathered(you can probably play the game with VPN or wait until it's globally ready to launch). If we're going to talk about the armor items, I have no idea of their statistics in WolfTeam Classic(yes, armor items are in WolfTeam Classic...) but one would hope that the statistics on them are rebalanced. Inventory wise everybody now has a Elwrci SL as a primary weapon so in the classic version it should be able to 1 shot in the head everything human, exception being the wolves. It's not exactly the proper return to classic but I will have to admit: It does sound more free-to-play friendlier.

Do I think that WolfTeam Classic is a return to the roots that made the game enjoyable and 'even'? Perhaps. I sadly don't think it quite makes the cut in my own perspective of what I would titulate as "classic". WolfTeam Classic is, after all, a game that tries to replicate the 2011-2013 time period of game where despite having premium content and overpowered gear, you could still hold some form of 'candle' in it. By "candle" I mean having a proper skill to be on even terms with OP items. I hate to make a jab despite trying to paint at least some kind of positive light to the game itself, but as I mentioned in my previous blog, "WolfTeam Classic" is basically just a copy of the existing WolfTeam Softnyx/Aeria etc. but more free-to-play friendly and slower-paced. The title selection does irk me as it is not purely a 'classic' as the developers make it sound like. IT IS close to it but modernization and mixing old-school into it just kills some of aspects that made me immersed to the game.

As a final note I would like to clarify one thing: I would play WolfTeam Classic over Aeria and Softnyx if from what I've read/heard the game is more balanced and f2p friendly. Until then, I will have to wait and see until a possible global release is to come... Maybe it has some promise for it... It is a pipe-dream of a young, teen me's dream. But I might not have the time to play the game as I might have in the past.
